Volunteers required for Research Study at Northumbria University

Investigation into the cause of physical and mental fatigue in ME/CFS

Background
The cause of ME/CFS is unknown.
The most debilitating symptom is severe mental and physical fatigue.
Potential triggers include viral infection.
This study will look at potential biological markers of fatigue.

Who can take part
Female.
Aged 20 - 40 years.
Have a recent (last 12 months) onset of ME/CFS.
Non ME/CFS, with no current health problems to act as ‘controls’.


What will I have to do if I take part?

Complete a shopping trip designed to simulate daily physical and cognitive demands, followed by a set of questionnaires to assess mood state on two occasions.

The second trial will be proceeded by a bout of resistance exercise that will evoke a mild inflammatory response.
