Documentary to help understanding of ME

A group of TV and Media Studies Students from Newcastle University are
making a documentary for us. Jennifer met with the students to explain about ME, and how we wish to get the message across to health professionals and the general public about the real problems people face. Also to highlight the devastating effects on individuals, families, their education and their working lives.

A team expressed interest to help us, we agreed a plan of what was required and they will produce a10-minute Documentary on a useable format (CD, DVD & Video) that we can circulate widely. Interviews with a range of ME members, messages of support from health professionals with an interest in ME, and highlighting the work of ME North East, it is an exciting piece of work which will be informative and educational.

The work will be undertaken as part of the student’s degree, and the course tutor was most impressed by the high level of interest shown. The team are well into production, they were present at our AGM/Conference (and are making a video of the event for us), interviewed several people on the day and have visits and interviews to undertake over the next two weeks.

The final edit will be in early June and we hope to have it available by the end of the month. Watch the website for updates and we will provide more information in Autumn Focus.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved, a great deal of planning and work has gone into this already and much more to do. Everyone has been helpful, friendly and patient, and all have learnt a great deal about ME that they will pass onto to their colleagues and families. We hope to arrange a “Show” when we can all get together and celebrate the finished product.
