Expert Patient Programme

8th June 2004 1.30 - 4.00pm Garth Surgery, Rectory Lane, Guisborough Langbaurgh PCT are wanting to recruit more local people to become "Expert Patients" by taking part in the PCT's Expert Patient Programme course. The EPP is part of a National scheme, developed by the Department of Health, which offers courses to help people cope with their long term condition/illness. Conditions such as arthritis, asthma, back pain, mental health issues and many others. The course is designed to run alongside medical treatment and benefits can include a reduction in symptoms, less pain and better quality of life. The courses are free of charge. They are being led by tutors who themselves have long term conditions or experience of caring. Volunteers will also be recruited and given the opportunity to receive accredited training to enable them to deliver self-management courses in similar circumstances. The next course in Langbaurgh area is to start on the 8th June 2004. It is to take place at the Garth Surgery, Rectory Lane, Guisborough and will run for 6 weeks on a Tuesday afternoon from 1.30 pm - 4.00 pm.
