AGM Saturday 7th May

'Review'

We expected a lower turnout at this years AGM but were disappointed in the very small number who attended. Of course we know of many who wished to come along who did register, but come the day were unable to make it. We do understand ME and planning ahead is not something that works well in practice.

Our new Chairman Peter Morton welcomed those who attended, spoke of the achievements of the last year and commended the Annual Report to members (a copy is with this newsletter). He said goodbye to staff members Alison and Joy (and hello to Joanna Hainsworth - Young People’s Group Support Worker) and gave a fond farewell to one of our founding members Dawn Whittaker who retired from our Management Committee. 10 members stood for re-election with one new recruit (names on the back page). All 11 were elected unanimously. Peter thanked all Trustees for their support and dedication.

The accounts were received and adopted. Salary costs were queried, the member asking the question thought all involved in ME North East were volunteers. Salaries covered six staff members for all or part of the financial year and Trustees of ME North East were confident we got good value for money from everyone.

Peter spoke of the challenges of the coming year not least in securing funds to manage the organisation. Our wish to continue to offer a FREE service for our members, and our important role in raising awareness and in educating and training service providers as part of the ongoing process in developing clinical services for ME.
