ME Awareness Week 2005

'A Walk in the Park'

Led by Sheila, our Young People’s group organised this event in ME Awareness Week, to bring people together and have a fun day, to raise the profile of ME, and an added bonus to raise funds for the Young People’s Group. We had over 70 walkers, we had sunshine and lots of friendly volunteer helpers to make the day successful. A very special thanks to Caroline and colleagues from The Riverside Pavilion - they were brilliant.

We got press coverage from the Northern Echo (and the Chester le Street Advertiser) Vicky and Martin feature in the photos. Our young members excelled themselves making cards, jewellery, cakes, candles, scarves and photo frames and we had a beautiful craft fayre. We have some very talented young people in our midst and we plan to hold a bigger craft fayre event towards the end of the year. The whole day was a resounding success, a first attempt that inevitably brought a few glitches that we know we can overcome and improve on. Next year we’ll do it again and it’ll be even better - hope to see you there.

Thanks to Sheila and her “team” she is showing a real flair for organising fun events.
