CFS/ME Services for the North East
Update – June 2006

All four multi-disciplinary teams providing services for ME are holding regular clinics and seeing an increasing number of patients. The membership of each team steering group is now under review with a need to focus more on the actual running and management of services. Patient representation will continue to be an important member of each team.

One next step will be to begin the process of monitoring and evaluation, getting feedback from those using the services to measure the success, or otherwise, of the treatments offered. Another priority area is to provide education and training beyond the teams and into the primary care setting with GP’s, practice nurses and therapists.

Louise Wilson (Clinical Network Coordinator) will be offering a central role in progressing the help available. I was very pleased to be nominated and elected to the Chair of the Clinical Network Coordinating Team for the next 6 months, and will continue the effective joint work with Louise and all the teams.

A regional conference for all interested parties is to be arranged later in the year – we will report in the next edition of Focus.
