Young People's Christmas Craft Fayre

An excellent day enjoyed by all. Lots of stalls displaying beautiful gifts and cards made by our young members. A Tombola that raised much excitement as every ticket was a winner. Lots of volunteer helpers from young Paige who made sure everyone guessed her “number of sweets in the jar” to Sheila’s Mum and Dad who worked stoically in the kitchen providing refreshments and lots of her mum’s home made produce. Great fun, great company and to top it all we raised over £350 for future young peoples projects.

The day was equally exciting as we had a visit from Trai Anfield (BBC Look North & Cumbria’s Weather Presenter). She came along to film a short piece that was televised on the Look North News programme as part of Children in Need Celebrations. Trai filmed all afternoon and lots of our young people were interviewed. The final edit meant that just 2 minutes were shown on TV, only a fraction of the day, but it was an excellent piece. Our thanks go to everyone who took part, you were all marvellous.

To top it all Trai was so impressed with our work and the people she met she has agreed to become a patron of ME North East.

We’ll give you a full profile of Trai in our next edition of Focus, suffice for now to say we’re delighted.
