Local Support Groups
Local ME Support Groups
offering help and support to you

ME North East support a number of local ME groups across the region. Each group is independent and manages its own affairs. We are happy to offer help and support to these groups wherever possible, at a level determined by each group.

In times past we did have a dedicated group support worker, Joy Lyn, and many of you will remember her fondly, she was a great asset to ME North East. We are aware that there are big gaps in the North East where no groups meet at all, and yet we know a number of people who would like to join something local to them.

Although we are no longer in a position to take a lead in setting up new groups, we do encourage people to arrange local get-togethers wherever possible, and whilst we hold no responsibility for the management and running of such groups, we are more than happy to help you get started.

If anyone is interested in doing something in their patch, give us a call, it could be an adult group, a young persons group, a parents group, or a combination of these.

Social inclusion and interaction is very important, many members do benefit from regular meetings, local events, talks and presentations. Just talking with someone else who understands can be a great relief, and sharing coping tips and management techniques can prove very helpful.

If you think you would like to take this step – then give us a ring, we will be happy to hear from you. 0191 3892222
