Knowing ME Workshop Durham

New venue, new coping mechanisms, new and old faces and a new craft all in one day! Yes, another successful workshop specially designed for us young people with ME. Held this time at Collingwood Conference Centre, Durham University, the parents and young people had their own separate workshops - a good turnout for both. After brief introductions the young people were then set the task of highlighting their own coping mechanisms for living with ME and tools they already used. After much analysis and discussion, groups formulated their Top 10 Coping Tips. With a group representative presenting these, a final 10 were established.

The afternoon craft and relaxation sessions were great opportunities for people to mix, have a laugh and still learn something new. The Egg Painting session certainly brought out many hidden talents of our members! The prize winners selected by Carol (the crafts lady) were all delighted with their gifts and photographs can be seen above.

It was yet another enjoyable day in Durham, which left you thinking and reflecting on things you had learnt throughout the day - ideas for pacing, reserving energy, etc. Thanks again to Sheila and Jennifer for holding both the young people’s and parents workshops. I look forward to seeing you at the next Durham workshop on the 18th June 2005, register now to book a place!
