'A Walk in the Park'

ME Awareness Week 2005

What a fab afternoon everyone had on our first ever “Walk in the Park”. We organised the event to raise awareness and funds in ME Awareness Week……
and for everyone to have some fun! We had over 70 walkers - some doing one lap of the athletics tracks and others completing the full 2 and a half miles.

Caroline from the Riverside Pavilion – with the help from her little friend Holly, led the “warm up” session. After a few “gentle”(!) exercises, everyone was off… To ensure no one “went astray", we had the route well marshalled – Babs and Tez here kept everyone on track! After completing the walk, everyone came back to the Pavilion for the Young People’s craft fayre and a welcome cup of tea and cake! All walkers were presented with certificates and ME North East key rings

All in all, a great day. We raised a massive total of £2,500 which will go towards the provison of services for the young people's group. Some of you may also have seen the article that appeared in the Northen Echo the next day – good publicity for ME North East and creating awareness of ME.
