Contact www.theparlor.co.uk Hi, my name is Lucy and I started making jewellery 3 years ago as another hobby to try after purchasing some lovely beads mixes from places like eBay. It was quite therapeutic to realise you could create simple, pretty and colourful necklaces that were so much more interesting than what you could find on the high street and that didn’t take up too much energy on those bad days. From then on I was hooked! Soon after, ME North East held their first craft showcase event at Chester le Street Riverside along side the charity fundraiser “Walk in the Park”. It was a chance to show off some pretty beaded pieces that included all sorts of crystals and semi precious stones that others enjoyed enough to purchase! As the Craft Fayres are held twice a year it gave me the chance, whilst going through a very bad relapse – down to about 10%, to work very slowly at creating my own website to sell my pieces. I had been interested in web design since being a teenager, so I felt this was the perfect opportunity to really utilise the skills I had learned through being quite severely affected by ME. It took exactly 1 year to complete with many ups and downs Things have gone from strength to strength with the site. I could not manage without the strong support I have from my mother, helping me pack orders on the bad days and of course ME North East for putting on the craft fayres in the first place. They really do encourage people like myself and show us that there are still things that you can learn, use, create and share with others, even with an illness like ME. Hope to see you all at the Christmas Crafts Fayre – if anyone would like to know more, please feel free to contact me. Lucy x
