Hello everyone. My name is Juliet and my daughter Emilia, has suffered from ME for just over two years, since she was 14 years old. I have recently completed a degree course at Sunderland University and I am now in the process of doing a Photography MA. I have begun my research
project by focusing on how ME has affected Emilia’s life, family life and life as a carer.
During 2008, with the help of ME North East, I would like to expand my work to include the experiences of other ME sufferers and their carers through the use of photographs, words and retrieved images. This could include a variety of ideas such as taking portraits in people’s homes, written letters describing experiences by carers and/or sufferers, photographs of relevant spaces and/or objects and also photographs taken by carers and young people themselves. I would respect any privacy issues and only take photographs of what you feel comfortable with, even if that means not showing faces or personal details. The end result will hopefully be used on a website that I will develop with the help of Lucy, who also suffers from ME, and perhaps in an exhibition at the end of 2008. However, the exact format will only take shape as the project develops throughout the year.
