CALL FOR MORE VOLUNTEERS FOR PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT TO RAISE AWARENESS

Hello everyone and a big thank you to all the young people (and Sheila from MENE who has been a fantastic source of help & support) who have already volunteered to participate in the photography project that I outlined in MENE’s Christmas newsletter. Now that the project is making progress I would love to hear from more people and their carers who may also be interested in taking part.

Briefly this would include visiting young ME sufferers and their carers in their homes to explain the project more fully. This would then be followed by another visit when I would take a portrait photograph of the young person in their room - as this tends to be the place where most sufferers spend the majority of their time and so their surroundings become a part of them. I would also like to include any personal written histories, statements or relevant stories from participating young people and/or their carers.

The end result will hopefully become a website that I will develop with the help of fellow ME sufferer, Lucy, and perhaps also a book and/or exhibition. I am also photographing a series of still life images that emphasise the importance of the everyday to accompany the portraits. However the exact format will only take shape as the project develops throughout the year.
With this in mind I would love to hear from anyone who would be interested in taking part so that together we can help raise awareness of ME and change people’s perception of this illness.
